IBM、Sony 及 Toshiba 設定的 Cell Processor 因為它的高效能一直受到很多人的注目，但在最近一篇 via DailyTech 報道 中，發現原來 Cell Processor 的 Yield Rate 只得 10-20 %，Cell Processor 是由一個 PowerPC core 再加 8 個 Synergistic Processor Elements (SPEs)，詳細請參考 Cell Processor Specification，所以只有少數 Cell Processors 有 8 個能運作的 SPEs，其他有部份 SPEs 不能運作的 Cell Processor，效能會較差。

Cell Processor 的能力有多大？在 CEATEC 2005 中，Sony、IBM 及 Toshiba 就利用 Cell Processor 展示了一個 real-time digital mirror 的 demo，在這個 demo 中用家只需要坐在高解像鏡頭前，系統就會即時顯示用家非常清晰的樣子，它除了能跟據用家的動作作出即時影像更新外，還能在用戶改變動作及表情之餘，在影像中加上不同的髮型、化妝及刺青，效果非常自然。

我的口述絕對不能夠確實形容這個示範的真實效果，大家從這段日本電視新聞中有關的報導影片親自感受一下，效果之好簡直令我看得目定口呆，這亦令我更期待在 Playstation 3 中下一代 Eye Toy 的威力。
