Ajax Shoutbox - Wordspew

我一直以來都想用 Jalenack's Wordspew Plugin 這個 Ajax Shoutbox 取代 Shoutmix 的，因為採用 Ajax 的技術，不用 refresh 網頁便能看到新的留言，比起 Shoutmix 實在方便得多。

今日終於轉用了 Wordspew，為什麼直至現在才轉用呢？因為在試用這個 plugin 時發現之前搬遷 blog 至 Dreamhost 的中文亂碼問題，同樣發生在這個 plugin 上，修改這個 plugin 後才把問題解決。

我想可能有部份 blogger 會遇到同一個問題，所以我便將解決方法供諸同好，其實修改方法很簡單，只需要修改 wordspew.php 這個檔案。

再談 Captcha plugin - SecureImage

早前我提過以後留言時要輸入安全碼才成，而 Madthiu 問我為何會選擇 SecureImage 作為我的 Captcha plugin，雖然我在留言中回答了他，但我覺得有需要特地開一篇文章再作補充。

選擇 SecureImage 的原因

Ars Technica 刊登了一篇 iPod nano 的 Review，文中隨了談及一般試用的感覺外，因為 iPod nano 的超簿厚度，很多人包括我在內都覺得 iPod nano 有可能很容易爛的，所以 Ars Technica 就對同一部 iPod nano 進行了一些非常殘酷的測試，包括：

坐在 iPod nano 上
在跑步中扔下 iPod nano
在不同的速度下（8-10mph, 15-20mph, 30mph 及 50mph）在車上扔下 iPod nano

Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 Released

Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 推出了，它有以下新增的功能：

Automated update to streamline product upgrades. Notification of an update is more prominent, and updates to Firefox may now be half a megabyte or smaller. Updating extensions has also improved.
Faster browser navigation with improvements to back and forward button performance.
Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs.
Improvements to popup blocking.
Clear Private Data feature provides an easy way to quickly remove personal data through a menu item or keyboard shortcut.
Answers.com is added to the search engine list.
Improvements to product usability including descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, RSS discovery, and "Safe Mode" experience.
Better accessibility support including DHTML accessibility.
Report a broken Web site wizard to report Web sites that are not working in Firefox.
Better support for Mac OS X (10.2 and greater) including profile migration from Safari and Mac Internet Explorer.
New support for Web Standards including SVG, CSS 2 and CSS 3, and JavaScript 1.6.
Many security enhancements.

但要注意因為是 beta 版本的關係，有可能有不穩定的情況出現，現在有很多 extensions 及 themes 暫時並不相容 Firefox 1.5 Beta 1 的，試用與否就要考慮清楚了。

:: 試用感想 ::
試用一段時間，發覺 <Back> 和 <Forward> 時真的比 1.0.6 版本時快得多，之前就算是 back，整個 page 都會 render 過一次，如今應該是 cached 了，所以網頁即時顯示出來，真的用得很爽。

至於 extension 的兼容問題，我必用的 Adblock 及 Tabbrowser Preferences 已經出了支援 1.5 Beta 1 的新版本，至於不支援的 extensions，大家可以嘗試使用 Nighty Tester Tools 這個 plugin 強行將它們變得兼容，這個方法未必一定成功，但我就成功令到 SessionSaver 及 Web Developer 這兩個 extensions 可以順利運行。:wink:

之前發現的 IDN Buffer Overflow 問題，Mozilla 已經提出解決方法，各位無論使用 1.0.6 或者 1.5 Beta 1 版本的用戶都請盡快修正。
